I wanted to make a tooth brush holder that was symmetrical, curvy, and modern all at the same time. I started out by sketching in my designer notebook and making a rough idea of what I wanted it to look like. Then I took my ideas to inventor and drew half of my design. I used the symmetrical and circle tools to make sure the circles were the same size and then I used the reflection tool to reflect it . I then extruded it to make it 3-D and and made the edges curved for a more sleek look.
In this rotation I got to greater my understanding of inventor and some of the specific tools that can be used to match diameters of circles and make lines parallel. I learned the important of sketches and how they can help guide you through the production process. I learned that the 3D printers aren't always success full and sometimes make mistakes. In my first attempt at printing the 3D printer stopped dispensing plastic and was about an inch from the trey moving around as if it was doing something. |
